Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
Most commonly seen now a days. Persistent high reading of systolic and/or diastolic blood pressure in context with age, weight and gender of the patient. It can be without any apparent cause, which is known as Primary or Essential Hypertension or it can be due to some underlying Pathology (kidney diseases, cardiac diseases, endocrinal disorders, neurological diseases), which is known as Secondary Hypertension. Most commonly seen in smokers, obese or overweight people, people having sedantary life style or with less physical activities, persons who prefer high Salt intake, Stressed people; in a single term it can be called “Life Style Disorder”. Hypertension is more prevalent in males than in females. Family history of Hypertension is a risk factor for developing Hypertension.
Diabetes Mellitus
It is a chronic clinical syndrome characterized by Polyuria (excessive urination), polydipsia (excessive thirst), polyphagia (excessive eating), fatigue, weight gain initially and then weight loss. Prevalent in modern era, it is a life style disorder. It can affect almost all the systems and organs of the body. It can cause a number of other clinical conditions too- blurred vision, numbness, tingling and burning sensation in the course of the nerve (neuropathy), delayed healing of wound, frequent infections, injury to kidneys (nephropathy) etc. Family history of Diabetes Mellitus is a risk factor for developing diabetes.
Obesity
It is not a disease but it can be a cause of so many diseases. Most common causes of obesity are overeating, physical inactivity, irregular frequency of eating, psychological factors, diseases such as Hypothyroidism, polycystic ovarian syndrome, Cushing syndrome etc. Being obese can potentially increase risk of Cardiovascular diseases, Hypertension, atherosclerosis, obstructive sleep apnea.
